Error installing SQL server 2008

I'm in the process of trying to upgrade from sql server 2005 to 2008, and have had naught but problems. It imforms me that it has not managed to install any secton of the package successfully, to include power shell, sql express 2008 w/ service pack 1, or sql server 2008 management studio express.
