Hi Adam,

If the lodctr command does not work then we can either look at disabling the counters or rebuilding them manually.

Could you send a copy of your event logs to webpi@microsoft.com and I will follow up with the commands for these options.

I do see errors about Perflib for DTSPipeline, ASP.NET, and ASP.NET_2.0.50727. I have Vista x64. Running lodctr /r and rebooting did not alleviate the issue. The errors still appear in the event log, and the installer still sits there forever, saying "Please wait while we load the latest Web Platform products."

Hi All.

I was having the same hanging message "Please wait while we load the latest Web Platform Products" also on Vista, I spent a complete day trying to resolve... I was getting the Perflib & LoadPerf errors in Event Viewer/Windows Logs. I solved the problem by C:\Windows\System32\Cmd.exe ("RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR") at cmd prompt type lodctr /r ..... theres a little delay but will give a message that counter is rebuildt. Restart your computer and re-run your Web Platform 2.0 RC application. I hope this helps. Good Luck :-)

If the issue persists across restarts of Webpi there is another issue that occurs when we cannot read the performance counters on the system during startup.

To identify this check the Application and System Event logs for Perflib or Microsoft-Windows-LoadPerf errors. If you see these errors then the only current workaround is to fix the counters per the following links.

Windows 2003/ XP

1.Click Start, expand All Programs, and expand Accessories.
2.Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
3.At the command prompt, type lodctr /r, and then press ENTER.

Hi ShanonWhite; Thanks for reporting this issue! Could you try closing and then re-launching Web PI? We've seen this issue before, but haven't been able to consistently reproduce it so if you continuously see this issue we'll have more questions for you :)
