I tried to install Microsoft SQL server several times. Everytime it failed.

This is the error I am getting

My operating system is Windows XP

I have checked BITS, it is not disabled

Can anyone please help?

Failed to install SQL Server Express 2008 with Service Pack 1

I tried to install SQL Server Express 2008 with Service Pack 1 on windows xp but the return code is 5 not metioned in previous posts. Here are two lines in the file "webpi.txt":

DownloadManager Error: 0 : Install return code for product 'SQL Server Express 2008 with Service Pack 1' is Failure

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Web Platform Installer could not start

When I downloaded Web Platform Installer and selected run, I recieved the following error..."This installation package cold not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Package." Then I clicked OK and received this message. "The Web Platform Installer could not start. Please report the following error on the Web Platform Installer Forum. http:/forums.iis.net/1155.aspx"

Can I change the install drive?

I have never used the platform installer and didn't want to have to go back and uninstall things. Does anyone know if I can use the Microsoft Web Platform Installer to install each item on a different drive. I want most of this to be installed on my D drive?

However has not ever seemed to have SP3!!

PROBLEM: Microsoft Updates wants me to install the following:

I've tried a number of times cleaning, rebooting and it still falis every time. I also never got my Office Professional 2007 SQL Server to load either if thats a clue. here are the last lines of the install detail:

WordPress install fails to download MySQL

Using Web Platform Installer 2.0, trying to install WordPress application. The installation fails to download the MySQL Windows Essential 5.1. The log file shows :

I really hope someone is able to help with this! I am trying to install the Web designer but every time I try the installation fails with the error, We're Sorry, The following products have failed to install. SQL Server Express 2008 with Service Pack1. This product did not install successfully. I have read several posts and some say to read the log files which are situated in %Program Files%\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootsrap. But after each installation attempt this directory just doesn't exist!!

WPI Install failure......your problem

Why is it that when some programs fail to install the programmers make you think it's YOUR problem? I spent nearly an hour trying to install WPI and for what? "We're sorry.......".

Whose fault is it when certain components fail to install? Not mine.

To start with, on the download page, in the first attempt, the first tab that shows like 2 items to include wasn't fully loaded when the page was done loading. So I tried installing with what there was available to me. Ok. All went well. Until I got to the point of a restart. AFAIK, nothing is happening. The point behind a progress bar is to show us that something is working. So I cancelled the thing after some 20 minutes. Then tried again.

This time I got the first tab to load and got those items installed. Restarted again. That's when I get the "we're sorry...." box.

My machine is an Acer aspire AMD with 2gig clock and ram. So I don't see where I have an inadequate machine to use. The OS is windows vista premium.

I would like this operational as I need some way to learn asp and php locally.

Is it all truly 100% free? You know the old saying. So what's the catch? I go through all the trouble of creating web pages and come to find out, I can't save the files, or MS adds in tons of advertising, or, after 7 days you gotta pay $10,000.

Don't laugh. I've had free stuff do this on me quite often and not one word was said this would happen.

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2008 Express through the Web Platform installer. I need this because I want to use MS Assessment and Planning Toolkit which needs SQL Express.

Microsoft SQL EXPress advanced edition

Hi,

I have recently found errors in SQL express and uninstalled to reinstall it which I had hoped would fix any errors but I am getting the following on installation point..

I have also downloaded the SQLEXPRADV_x86_ENU.exe to install but am getting the sames errors.

Can someone please assist me with this issue.

IIS included?

It says IIS 7 is included. After downloading and running it, it says I already have the IIS server. I'm pretty sure I don't have it. I have the IIS Manager, but if I'm not mistaken it says the IIS server, and the ability to serve web sites and everything. I have XP Home and so it didn't come with IIS. I do have SP 3 though. Is it a typo that Web PI comes with the server, and the ability to serve web pages?

SQL Express Install Fails Silently When sa Password is password

If you install SQL Express with the Web Platform installer the install fails without giving any information as to why when you select password as the sa password in mixed mode.

This caused me with great frustration until I figured out why it was happening. Please add form validation to the dialog box that asks for the sa password to not allow password to be chosen as a password if this is not allowed by the SQL Express Installer.

I know password is insecure and not good practice for production sites but on my development server I always use password as the password.

Error while installing Visual Web Developer

I installed Web Platform Installer successfully on my system.Further I also installed SQL Server 2008 but when Visual Web Developer starts installing then error is thrown and installation stops.

Error is "This product did not install successfully:Downloaded file failed signature verification and may have been tampered with."

Please help me because each time I try to solve one error another pops up and I cannot proceed.

I've downloaded the installation file for "Web Platform Installer 2.0" but it says " cannont download the latest product list form http://go.microsoft.com/......... , check your Internet Connection" but i'm Internet connection is perfectly fine. I've tried this several times but it doesn't work. Somebody who knows how to solve this problem Please Help Me!

IIS and WAS install problem

I've tried to install WebServer and received msg from Web platform 2 installer sounds in English like: There is an Error. View components can't be installed:

API-interface WAS setup

etc.......

IIS console

When I try to customize the tools requiring Visual Studio I get an error, you must have VS 2008 SP1 installed, well I do have Visual Studio 2008 SP1 although it is set to 3.5 framework, why am I getting this error?
