&lt;p&gt;MSDeploy does not support IIS5, but migration from IIS6 to IIS7 is possible. You just need to specify &lt;strong&gt;-verb:migrate &lt;/strong&gt;instead of &lt;strong&gt;-verb:sync &lt;/strong&gt;to enable all migration rules.&lt;/p&gt;
