Hi

We are running some HTML files as ASP.net file with aspnet_Isapi handler in IIS 7.0 in windows 2008. These files are loading, but are loading the .Net script on the top

Please let us know how we can run HTML files as ASP.Net files.( We tried both Classic and Integrated mode). The pages are served well in IIS 6, but its not working on IIS 7.0

Disabling HTTPS Socket Pooling

Hi all,

I have a problem with IIS7 and socket pooling. Currently IIS7 binds to all IP addresses on port 443 for HTTPS services. The problem is that I have a different application that serves HTTPS content on port 443 and I need to run this side by side with IIS on different IP addresses. However, IIS7 does not seem to have an option to disable socket pooling as in previous releases of IIS (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;813368). How do I disable socket pooling in IIS7 so that it binds only to specific IP addresses?

IIS7.5 400 error when serving WCF

I have some wcf sites that work perfectly well on 2K8 running IIS7 but fail on 2K8R2 ith IIS7.5. I traced the issue down to the change where the host file now comments out localhost by default. My sites in question were bound to localhost. Trying to access the site gave a 400 error. When I finally uncommented the #127.0.0.1 localhost from the host file the site worked correctly again.

It feels like something in the magic IIS->WCF binding that takes place still needs the phyical host file in place to correctly service "localhost" bound services.

iis7 and set-cookie

I assume it is a known issue that IIS 7 will only set the last cookie that is put into the headers by a cgi application.

Is there a timeframe for a fix on this issue.

IIS7 Response.Cookies Collection is Empty

On IIS7, the HttpContext.Current.Response.Cookies collection seems to only contain cookies that ASP.NET creates. So on requests where a Classic ASP page sets 3 cookies, the collection when accessed via an HttpModule (later in the pipeline) is empty. This seems like a bug, right?

Custom HttpModule configuration - bug with managed requests

I'm running Asp.net MVC application. By default web.config sets all modules to run for all requests which I disabled. I have a custom HttpModule that's responsible for authentication of managed requests.

Part of my web.config looks like this:

<modules> <add name="CustomAuth" type="..." preCondition="managedHandler" /> </modules>

Then I try to access my site via http://localhost/default.aspx
All works fine. My Handler gets invoked since IIS integrated pipeline thinks it's managed request. Great.

Then I try to access my site via http://localhost/
Suddenly IIS7 thinks this is <b>not managed request</b>. So I put default.aspx on top of Default documents, to convince IIS that this is in did managed request, but to no avail... This request should be treated as managed so this is a bug. I should point out, that I'm using NetFx 3.5 SP1. As I've read elsewhere, this used to work before.

So I would like to:

configure IIS (via management UI or web.config) to run modules certain modules only for managed requests and not for static content as well
avoid configuring running all modules on all requests

I guess the culprit is StaticFile module. Could I use UrlRewriting module because (AFAIK) it executes before StaticFile module? Any other suggestion? Could I reorder handlers so another handler would execute before StaticFile that would make it possible to treat folder requests as managed content based on default document.

Hello,

I am a beginner in IIS and web technologies.

I am trying to test a helloworld test application which is " helloworld.cgi " written in perl.

Steps I have done till now :

In the Internet Information Services, I have added virtual directory called cgi-bin. Th cgi-bin is located in the inetpub/wwwroot directory. FYI: I can see CGI in the IIS.

When I type http://localhost/cgi-bin/helloworld.cgi,I am getting the following error.

Can somebody help in resolving the issue ? or can some body give me a step by step guide

for testing a helloworld.cgi application using IIS 7.0 in windows visat home premium edition.

Web application not installing in Default Web Site

Server Info: Windows 2003 server with IIS 7.0.

I am trying to install an web application developed using Visual Studio 2003 using framework 1.1 using a SETUP package. The installation works, but the application always install in one of my other Web Sites that I have creates on IIS.

I would like to install this app in the Default Web Site. The SETUP package does not prompt for the "Select Web Site" option during installation as I think this SETUP package was developed using VS 2003.

Has anyone run into this issue ? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Problems while setting a new web site application under IIS 7

Hello all,

I'm going to tell you what's happening.

SYSTEM

- Windows Vista Home Premium

- IIS 7

1. Firstly I created a new directory in the system;

2. Secondly I created a new web site under IIS 7;

I left their default configurations such as:

Application Poll: DefaultAppPool
so on;

3. I got this error

HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error

Description: This application is running in an application pool that uses the Integrated .NET mode. This is the preferred mode for running ASP.NET applications on the current and future version of IIS.

In this mode, the application using client impersonation configured with <identity impersonate="true" /> may not behave correctly. Client impersonation is not available in early ASP.NET request processing stages and may lead modules in those stages to execute with process identity instead. You have the following options:

1) Disable client impersonation.

If your application design allows it, you can disable client impersonation by setting <identity impersonate="false" /> in your web.config file. This will make your application code execute with the process identity.

NOTE: This option may require permissions on your application's files and data to be changed to allow access to the process identity.\

2) Disable this error.

If you do not have any modules executing within the BeginRequest and AuthenticateRequest ASP.NET pipeline stages, or it is acceptable for that code to execute under process identity, you can disable this error by setting <validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" /> in your application's configuration. Do this only after making sure that the rest of your configuration is compatible with Integrated .NET mode, as thiswill turn off the runtime validation for the application.

3) Move this application to an application pool using the Classic .NET mode (PREFERRED).

You can move the application to an application pool that uses the Classic .NET mode by using the following from a command line window (the window must be running as Administrator)

%systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\APPCMD.EXE set app "v2.oalexandrino.com/" /applicationPool:"Classic .NET AppPool"

Alternatively, you can use any other application pool on your system that is running in the Classic .NET mode. You can also use the IIS Administration tool to move this application to another application pool.

the previous issue has gone now! But.........

I have just 3 options:

they are:

Anonynous authentication;
ASP.NET impersonation;
Forms authentication;

I can't see windows Integrated authentication as I had at IIS 6 on my Windows 2003 server.

HttpRequest.AppendToLog under IIS7 does nothing

I'm trying to use HttpRequest.AppendToLog function in my ASP.Net project. It works under iis6, and does the expected thing. However under iis7 on windows vista i don't get any result.

Here is a code for the test page:

I am trying to get PHP working on my computer but I am not having any luck. I am running Vista sp1 IIS 7.0 PHP 5 Can someone help me? This is the error:

Dynamic Compression and Response.Close Bug

It seems like IIS7 has a bug where if dynamic compression is enabled and you do a Response.Close() the last character of the response stream gets stripped off.

To test it just enabled dynamic compression in IIS7 and create a page with the following Page_Load method:

    protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {
        Response.Write("test");
        Response.Flush();
        Response.Close();
    }

You should notice that the last "t" in the word "test" is missing when you display the page in a web browser. Disabling dynamic compression or commenting out "Response.Close()" eliminates the bug. If anyone has another work around or knows if this is truly a bug I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Windows 2008 FTP server (IIS 7.0): the system cannot find the file specified error

We recently migrated FTP to Windows 2008 (IIS7). One client reported that they get "the system cannot find the file specified" when they try to access one folder.

They are not having issues accessing any other olders. We tested using client account and it just works fine. Our FTP directory as follows

A (Folder)

100 (sub folder)
101 (sub folder)
102 (sub folder)
103 (sub folder)
104 (sub folder)
226 (sub folder)
227 (sub folder)
228 (sub folder)
229 (sub folder)
230(sub folder)

B (Folder)

They only get this error when they access "A/227" and "B/227"

Any suggestions how this can be resolved. Since it is working for other users and also working for me using same client credentials I believe the issue could be on client machine.

I can't reinstall IIS7 on Vista!

I installed IIS 7 once on my refresh Vista. It worked good. After that i removed for securtiy reasons. I thought if i reinstall my security issues fixed. But I could'nt reinstall now!

How can I solve this problem? Do you have any idea?

FTP site migrated to Windows 2008 (IIS7) from Windows 2003 server

We recently migrated IIS FTP from Windows 2003 to IIS7 Windows 2008 server. What we found is from Linux/Unix box if we connect and run "dir - R" it is only showing top level directories where as if we run same command on old server it display all folder and sub folder information.

Can someone help me what I need to do make this work in IIS 7.I appreciate your help.

My problem is that IIS manager crashes when I create a certificate request. This is the crash:

I'm running IIS manager on a Windows 2008 server. I follow all the process to generate the request and when I click Finish, the crash happens. The certificate request is generated despite the crash.

It is a little bit diconcerting, because sometimes it crashes, sometimes not. The same happens when I try to complete the certificate request. Even when I try to import a certificate in Internet Explorer, IE crashes. So it seems to be something related to certificates in general. This is not happening just in a single server but in several servers.

Any idea or suggestion?

Hi,

I have FTP site running on windows 2008 server.
The FTP site has root folder and few sub folders.
I can connect using FTPS (SSL) and browse all the sub folders just fine.

Now the best part, if I try to upload a file like .jpg, .doc, .txt etc when upload is finish the file will not show in the folder where I originally started the upload, it will jump to the root folder.

Any idea?

I have IIS7, Windows Vista on the server machine, and a web application currently running perfectly fine on http://localhost:81 of that machine.

(port 80 is being used by XAMPP for another webpage, so changing it to 80 is not an option i would like to consider.)

let's say my IP was 136.193.14.200.b

at an EXTERNAL machine, typing http://136.193.14.200 gives me the xampp website.

I suppose typing http://136.193.14.200:81 would give me the IIS one, but no, can't find a thing, it just timeouts.

INSIDE the server machine, http://136.193.14.200:81 works perfectly fine.. what am I missing?

I posted this in another forum, maybe I have better luck here:

I have a website running in IIS7 and it seems to be creating a new session for every request I make. The values I store in Session are lost with every request.

I have reduced the security levels to a minimum and the browser has no problems accepting cookies from other sites. In fact it accepts cookies from my same website when hosted in a Windows Server 2003 with II6. Furthermore, the site works fine in Firefox and Opera but not in IE or Safari.

This is the forms bit in my web.config:

I have run a trace for both IE7 and Firefox 3, and the results are a bit different, hopefully this will highlight some clues. I have run a quick test, I have a page that shows a list of products
in a gridview, then the user would select a couple, hit a button and see those products selected in a details page. The products are stored in session so the details page knows which ones were selected.
The obvious things I notice are:

- In IE, the session id changes with each request whicle in Firefox stays the same (this is good) hence the IsNew value for IE is true while Firefox keeps it false (same session).

- In IE the request cookies remain empty, while in Firefox I can see the cookie I specified in web.config (MyCookie)

- However Firefox has empty Response cookies, while IE stores some values. This however is not stopping Firefox from workimng fine.

-PRODUCTLIST is a session variable that remains empty in IE while Firefox shows the products selected

- IE is adding a lot of crap to the url while Firefox keeps it clean.

Any ideas highly appreciated, this is getting desperate. EnableSessionState is true (default). Everything works fine in Windows Server 2003 and IIS6.
