Basically, when you try to add SMTP Services, the prerequisites are IIS 7.0 AND the IIS 6.0 Management Compatibility group's two role services entitled IIS 6.0 Metabase and IIS 6.0 Management Console, which are automatically installed. You then need to use the IIS 6.0 management console to configure SMTP.

It seems hard to believe that I'd have to use IIS 6 ... can someone confirm what I'm being told is true? thanks
