MY IIS 6.0 installation has corrupted

My IIS 6.0 installation has not been very good on my Win 2003 comp. The IIS Manager is not showing the Administration node under Web Sites although I have installed Remote Administration (HTML). Also Remote Administration (HTML) is neither uninstalling nor installing correctly through Windows Components. What should I do now ? Pls suggest.

Hi Guys,

I am doing a migration to two new servers and I am having a very strange problem.

Server 1 and Server 2 both host multiple websites and use an web drive which is an EMC storage (both windows see them as normal drives)

Server 1:

Website-A works

Website-B Does not work (error 404)

Server 2:

Website-A does not work (error 404)

Website-B Works

They are both IIS6 servers with ASP webpages on there and i set the permissions to everybody full control + network services full control and I enabled server side extensions like .asp etc etc the same. I also verified all the config and it is the same.

Please help...

Does IIS_WPG Group needs Permission for non-default IIS Logging Folder?

Hello IIS Support, We have changed IIS logging folder to non-default location for all our Web Sites in our Web Servers. Default IIS Logging Folder location doesn't seem to have any permission for IIS_WPG group. Since we have changed the IIS Logging Folder to different location, can you please confirm if it is safe to not set any IIS_WPG permission for this non-default location as well? Hi,

i have installed Windows Server 2003 standard edition. i have upgraded with service pack 2 . when i am configuring with IIS service with my server it is showing setup cannot copy the file convlog.exe. i have tried with many service pack version paths. it is showing same issue.

can anyone tell what is this problem. and how can i check which service pack is suitable for my system. how can out from this issue.

I don't know if this is IIS related, but I'll ask anyway.I have 2 web servers, production and dev running W2003. Each server has its own external URL address. For example the production server has a internal IP 192.168.240.180 and URL XYZ.com, in contrast with dev that has its internal IP at ...181 and URL XYZ-dev.com. This a corporate environment with a firewall that I don't have control over and so here is my issue.If I swap the internal IP addresses in the TCP/IP properties windows (in IIS IP is assigned automatically), I get the white page of death trying to get to the XYZ.com but XYZ-Dev.com works fine.I have even tried using their external IP addresses in substitution for URL but I get the same result.I realize this may be "needle in the haystack" type of issue, but if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate your input.

IIS installs but no icon doesn't run

I added IIS to a computer that originally didn't have it installed. The OS was originally installed w/o it and the OS was installed as XP Pro service pack 2 and then updated to service pack 3.

The first time I installed IIS it worked fine. Next day it was gone! I reinstalled several times now and there is no icon and the service is not running.

Any ideas on where to go with this?

www service keeps disabling

Why does the www service on my new exchange server keep disabling itself? Our original server is an Exchange 2000 and it runs fine. We have added an Exchange 2003 server to the network and it runs fine, except that the www service keeps disabling itself. I have to enable and start it a couple times a day or more. What could cause this?

Original Server Specs:

Windows 2000 SP4
Exchange 2000 Enterprise - Version 6.0 (Build6249.4: Service Pack 3)

New server Specs:

Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2
Exchange 2003 Enterprise - Version 6.5 (Build 7638.2: Service Pack 2)

i am new to web dev ...i have started learning asp, php and mysql ....i got microsoft web dev tools .....i can run and test the asp in microsoft but .. i want to test it on a web server iis5.1 ...i have installed it ...but problem is that i can't run the .ASPX files and mysql ..i have mange to run php files by using microsoft webinstaller....

when every i try to run asp files it ask for password and username...and give me the error...

I have Windows 2003 Server with IIS installed on it. I have forwarded Public IP to this server. And I am making new website for each new website. So from out side our local lan it can browse by Public URL for example if I make new website called xyz.com, it can be browse by www.xyz.com from outside our local lan. And if we have internet in our lan we can also browse with same URL.

But now question if internet is down in our local lan than how can we access this website in local lan.

I tried to install IIS to MS Windows XP Pro SP3, but it was unsuccessful. After beginning of installation (through "Add or Remove Programs" in "Control Panel") application demand some dlls (for example: staxmem.dll) in the directory "c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386". But application wrote that "cannot copy the file".

How to install IIS?

and it did not install.

Can anyone provide some insight on how to solve this?

Hi, I have a windows 2003 server 64bit version and have installed .net framework 2.0 sp2, 3.0 sp2, 3.5 sp1 but when I go to add server role and select Application (IIS), the installation keeps asking for a file which each time I point it to the exact location it does not go beyond there. The file name is nntpsnap.cn_ and I also get these alerts in the event log: Below are just the few of several such logs

Authentication problem in new installation of IIS6

Hello,

I installed IIS6 using my windows XP CD and installation completed successfully.

I haven't changed any property or any values after installation. But when I tried to view http://localhost/ the browsers displays a dialog box asking for password.

So, I viewed the properties of IIS manager and the anonymous login is enabled.

I don't know what is the problem please help me.

Maybe this issue was answered in other thread, but unfortunaley i haven't found, but anyway I'm gonna ask you guy's, thanks in advance:

I migrated my site to win server 2003, the old site was in win 2000, my old site works fine, but when run my default page in the new server eg: \\172.24.34.48\, the default asp page don't show up, only with \\172.24.34.48\default.asp, i configured the follow option in the IIS Web Service Extentions--->Active Server Pages --> Allowed and also ASP.Net ---- Allowed.

Also, i set the option in the Home Directory ----> configuration--->Options---Enable Parent Paths

Something weird is that some pages the default.asp is working fine, and some pics in my default root, don't show up too, only a couple, but in win 2000 working fine, the pics run's well, but i dont know what happen?

I need to set some option or something else?

IIS 5.0 server becomes unresponsive...

I have an IIS 5.0 Server running on a machine and every couple of hours or so the server becomes unresponsive to users if it becomes idle. If I try to access a web site on the server I get the error message "Cannot find server or DNS Error". To get around the problem I have to go to Windows Firewall / Advanced tab / double-click on the wireless connection / and then uncheck and re-check the Web Server (HTTP) option. I have to do this every couple of hours it seems. There is a firewall turned on in my wireless router and configured to point to my machine (192.168.0.100) for web requests (port 80). The machine (192.168.0.100) is running Windows XP Pro SP3 and is hosting IIS 5.0 server. This machine also has Windows Firewall. Does anyone know what might be the cause?

Need to install IIS to be able to run SQL 2005. When I go to add windows components and select IIS the install starts and then stops and is looking for files that do exist in the I386 folder. If I try to install from the original xp SP2 cd I have the same problem. Is there somewhere on Microsoft site to download IIS install program.

Cannot conenct IIS 5.1Port 25 with XP SP3

I cannot conenct to IIS 5.1 on a new PCrunning XPSP3. I port-scanned it and nothing is blocking 25 but it does not respond to telnets to that port. Is this a know issue? ANy work-around? Is there a download for IIS 6?

Default Web Site settings in IIS

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is an IIS, Silverlight or VS2008 issue (or something else) but here goes.

I have two projects in a solution; one Silverlight and one ASP.NET. I have a xap file in my ClientBin folder in my ASP project. This file loads my Silverlight through the test html page generated when I created the project. This worked fine when I ran it through our default dev server.

Now though, I've loaded the website onto my IIS Config under 'Default Web Site'.

When I run it now my ASP.NET proj runs but it doesn't seem to load my Silverlight proj at all. Debugging never reaches my MainPage.xaml.cs and I don't know why.

Nothing has changed in my solution apart from the breakpoints that I've added. My dependencies haven't changed.
I'm running IIS 5.1, VS2008 with SP1, ASP.NET 2.0 and Silverlight 3. I have Fiddler which shows a status 304 for the file I'm trying to reach ('If the client has performed a conditional GET request and access is allowed, but the document has not been modified, the server SHOULD respond with this status code). I'm not sure what this means or how to fix it.

As this was running before I changed to IIS then I'm assuming this is the problem area. I've changed some settings but nothing works so far. I could list the changes but it maybe quicker if someone could advise me. I'm not familiar with IIS very much so please bear with me.

What i have to do or install to get them ?

Hi All,

I'm sorry if this comes to you smelling of "Not this question again"... but I'm not sure of the terminology to be searching for.

I'm a web developer, but recently have taken up administrating the IIS/Apache server(s) - which I'm not too geared up on (beyond simple configuration).

My problem is that the development server is wanting to be in house/on site (to save money). We ideally want one domain e.g. "www.mydomain.com" which will then redirect to the server (I have this sorted already)...

The user will be presented with a Windows Authentication prompt, and depending on their username they will be presented with that website for viewing.

I realise this is a bit much - and the last resort is just to have it on their sub-domains (but I'm a bit of a why-take-the-easy-route kinda guy).

How to map web pages ?

Hi, I am trying to complete thus task: For our old website, we have almost 100 web pages, such as : www.abc.com/a.html; www.abc.com/b.html; ..... Now we would like to remove the older website server, and use another IIS server for the new web pages. We will use the same website name, but the web page name is different. For the new webpages, we have: www.abc.com/mappingA.aspx www.abc.com/mappingB.aspx ..... If user wants to go www.abc.com/a.html, he/she will automatically go to www.abc.com/mappingA.aspx , after we use the new web server. On the IIS, does it have any functions to complete this task or any ideas about how to complete it? Thanks.
