I have two handler mappings on my Windows 2008, IIS 7 web server that I need to disable (ISAPI-dll and CGI-exe). I can't find an option to do that on the Handler mappings page, and the applicationhost.config on the server I need to disable it on looks identical
to the one on the server where they are disabled. Can anyone tell me how to disable them?
Any assistance is appreciated.

Did you try using:
appcmd set config /section:handlers /-[name='string']

Thanks, that actually removes it, I was hoping to disable it and verify everything was still ok... appreciate the input however.

When I tried to disable any one handler (example .svc) by removing the read and script permissions the entire handler list is becoming disabled. Except TRACEverbhander and OPTIONSverbhander.
