  Encrypting WMV files using smoothprotect.exe fails with Error = 0x80070008

  I am trying to encrypt a sample wmv file provided by microsoft wildlife.wmv using smoothencrypt on Windows Server 2008 R2 ( 64 bit machine ) with 8 gb RAM. I logged on to that machine with admin credentials so I think there should not be any issue related to rights. Though I am using remote desktop connection to connect to this machine. If I use any .ismv file the process works fine but in case of any WMV file ( however small the file size may be ) it fails with below mentioned error. C:\Program Files\IIS\Transform Manager>SmoothProtect.exe -input C:\AmanShared\Wildlife.wmv -output C:\AmanShared\Wildlife11.wmv -keyId ***************** -keySeed ************************** -laUrl ******************************** Attempting to open C:\AmanShared\Wildlife.wmv for reading Opened C:\AmanShared\Wildlife.wmv for reading. File size is 26246026 bytes Attempting to open C:\AmanShared\Wildlife11.wmv for writing. Opened C:\AmanShared\Wildlife11.wmv for writing. Failed to process input file C:\AmanShared\Wildlife.wmv . Error = 0x80070008 Does any one know why this issue could be coming as I am struck up with the encryption process. I have my own playready encryption tool which works fine but the problem comes when I use smoothProtect.exe under Transform Manager.

  This job is only intended to work with Smooth Streaming files. WMV files are not compatible with Smooth Streaming.
