This is a very newbie question, but I can't seem to find an answer via searching and I'm hoping someone experienced with url rewrite can provide a definitive answer. Can url rewrite be used to rewrite urls in outbound content to include a cache busting
token? For example, if a web page contains a script tag like...
...can url rewrite be used to change the url for the script to something like...
...where the 120229173101 querystring value is either the checksum of the script.js file or the last modified date of the file?

As far as I know, with URL Rewrite Module there is no way to detect checksum or last modified time of the script.js file. You will need to create a custom provide.
