I've been trying for several hours now to install SQL Server 2008 express but I'm having real trouble with Web Platform installer. On my first attempt, I got as far as the install for SQL Server but it failed before completion (can't remember the exact error msg).
Since then, every time I try to install it from http://www.microsoft.com/express/sql/download/, I get as far as the page that should launch web platform installer but IE7 just hangs. Until the last attempt I wasn't getting an error msg at all but on the last one I got a msg telling me WPI had failed to launch and to report it here. I've deinstalled and reinstalled WPI several times and even done a couple of system restores but nothing seems to solve this problem. Please help.
