  NTFS Permissions Ignored when using FTP Reply Contact  Hi all.  I am trying to setup an FTP server that has different permissions for each folder within the root folder of the site.  Whichever option(s) I choose (Read/Write) they get set site wide regardless of the NFTS/Active Directory permissions granted to a user or group on a given subfolder.  I did not set any user isolation when creating the ftp site as I want all users to be able to read from the root directory.  I simply want the FTP site to obey NTFS/Active Directory user and group permissions.  Is this possible?   Thanks in advance for your response.

And NTFS is working for FTP. What specifically you trying to do? Users able to write at ftp root? or ? Cheers, Bernard Cheah

  Gumby Joined on 11-05-2009, 11:01 PM Posts 2	Re: NTFS Permissions Ignored when using FTP Reply Contact  I do not want write access to root, but I want write access to some (not all) of the folders within root and going further, some folders I do not even want read access for some users/groups.  All the settings are correct when the users is using the filesystem locally or via a network share.  It is only IIS FTP that is ignoring them.

I have created an FTP site (without user isolation) in IIS 6.0 and I have set NTFS permissions on folders beneath the root. When I log in as one of the users who has been denied access to a specific sub-folder I get an 'Access Denied' error message. I'd suggest you run Process Monitor on your server to see what's really going on when an FTP user connects. Regards, Paul Lynch | www.iisadmin.co.uk

So please double check the user account or the user groups he/she belong too. Cheers, Bernard Cheah
