FTP cannot connect to Network Drive

We have a WD MyBookWorld 2 TB network drive which we use for all our FTP activity.  This worked great under Server 2003.  Setting up Server 2008 I cannot access the drive.  No error message simply will not login.

Using the command line FTP client, what are the response codes?

The reply at the command line is "home directory inaccessible".  I cannot change the permissions on the drive through Server 2008.  The message is :

The program cannot open the required dialog box because it cannot determine whether the computer named "mybookworld" is joined to a domain.  Close this message and try again."
