    Company Web Issues

    Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the correct area of this forum to post this but will give it a shot.

I've got a website built in ASP.net 2.0 that is running on our company server. The server is SBS 2008 standard edition. The webfiles are all stored in C:\web\SECTHW on the server. I've configured the company server to look to this directory and set up SECTHW as the default web. I've put a shortcut on the companyweb homepage to the default page for the SECTHW web. It opens fine on the server. My problem is that when I go to use the link from a user desktop the I get an error that says the page cannot be found. It doesn't seem possible to me that I should need to put the web files on all of the local computers. I'd have to shoot myself! What am I missing? This is the first local web I've set up.

    Thanks,
    Leesha

What URL are you using from the desktops?  Have you checked the IIS logs to see if the request even got to the web server?  Do you have a default document configured correctly?

    Hi Jeff,

The url from the desktops opens the company web.  I believe its http://companyweb/Default.aspx

I'm not sure how to check the IIS logs??????

As for configuring the default document??????  I "assume" I do as it opens from the link on the the server company web when it opens up and it communicates with the sql database.

I'm new to this end so please bear with me.

Just an added FYI.  All users will be logging into the website from the internet via the button to log onto the internal website.  The error that comes up when they click the link to the website I want them to be able to go to is a 404 error. I googled it and found a MS help file but got nowhere with it.

    Thanks,
