Report IIS 7 SSL Certificate Import/Binding Bug

When I import an SSL Certificate into IIS 7 (on Windows Server 2008 64-bit), if I do not check "allow certificate to be exported", I get errors when I try to bind the imported certificate to a website.  If I remove then import the certificate again, this time allowing the certificate to be exported, I can bind the certificate to a website without issue.  Of course, it is a potential security risk to allow certificate exporting from a server and the option to "allow certificate to be exported" is there for a reason.

I have been experiencing this issue for over a year now and am surprised to see it not fixed (though of course it could be user error).  So I've gone to some trouble to sign up for this forum to post this possible bug.

There is a work around for this issue.  If you use the Certificates MMC snap in to perform the certificate import and managment, this should work.  Once it is imported into your Local Machine store, you can go back into IIS and create an HTTS binding.

Let us know if this workaround solves your problem.
