Stability of 1.5 RC for Production Use

     Greetings,

We've been using the 1.0 FastCGI handler since it was released. We've tested the 1.5 handler in our development environment. I am curious what the general opinion is of 1.5 for production use? Any known issues? Any symptoms of known issues we should be aware of?

I would like to upgrade our production machines to 1.5 to get more dynamic load handling, which seems to be a major feature of the 1.5 release. Does the "maxinstances = 0" setting work well for you all?

Anyway, our testing looks good and I just thought I would reach out to the community before we finalize our internal testing.

     -Stephen

    Hi Stephen.

There are bunch of changes coming to dynamic maxInstances algorithm in FastCGI 1.5 RTW release to adapt to load more quickly and to protect against situation when number of instances are too high that the load on the system is low because of excessive context switching. I would recommend you to wait for the RTW release before turning on dynamic load handling on a production server.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Do you have any idea about the release date of this RTW ?

I am waiting for the trio FastCGI 1.5 final + WinCache 1.0 final + PHP 5.3.1 final before update my entire server (FastCGI 1.0 + EA + PHP 5.2).

    Bye.

I can't commit on an exact date but we are working hard to release FastCGI 1.5 RTW and WinCache 1.0 RTW asap. My guess is that both the releases will be out before PHP 5.3.1 release:).

    Thanks.

    Great ksingla !

But you will have to be quick because PHP 5.3.1 is avaible in RC3 since yesterday ;)

Any idea if a PGO build of PHP 5.3.1 will be avaible ?

    Thanks for your job!

    Hi,

We are currently working on FastCGI 1.5 RTW release. There has been some significant change and we are planning to ensure that the changes are working fine from some of our big customers. As soon as we are done with our work and get sign-off from our customer, we will release it. If you want to try the candidate build let me know and I can send you the private bits for testing.

    Thanks,

    Don.
