I had a couple of instances where the bitrate throttling function seem to have failed yesterday. The only thing I'm streaming at this point is FLV files. The thing that really bugged me is that neither recycling the app pool or restarting the site seemed
to bring the functionality back. Is there a service or process that can be killed to reset the streaming function? I'm running the RTW on Win2008 R2. The server was previously running the IIS Media Pack RC1.
Also -- I use MSDeploy to sync the IIS configuration between two identical servers. After upgrading Media Services, MSDeploy now fails with the message:
Error: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)
I solved problem number two but you might be interested. On the second server I upgraded, the file IISMedia_Schema.xml did not get upgraded. I had the RC installed previously but uninstalled it and rebooted prior to installing the release version.

Looks like we can not get maximum video stream BW based on the SL Tools included in the sample player. Both Live and VOD do not stream at the max client BW. I have 1 location that has 30 Mbps down and when streaming a smooth stream the BW does not climb
the the max 4 Mbps. I can do a single file progressive download of that same video encoded at 4 mbps and hosted on that same server and it plays great. The max bit rate I was able to achieve using SL smooth stream is 2Mbps.
At another location we have a 1.5 Mb down and the max that the video streams at is 650kbps. Big Buck Bunny hosted at Microsoft also produces the same result
Update: This only occurres in IE all other browsers seem to handle the BW change more accurately.
Jim, are you still having problems with Bit Rate Throttling? I'm wondering if the two problems you saw are related. Just to clarify, did you install the RTW of IIS Media Services 3.0 over the RC candidate, or uninstall the RC first?

@devnon if you try to play in a smaller player window you may not be able to reach the highest bit-rate as SSME caps the bit-rate according to the screen size. Can you try going full-screen and then waiting around 30 seconds or seek in the future to see
if you are able to go higher?
Is Trickplay with H264 supported in RTW? I tried changing the playback rate on the player with a live smooth stream and it just doesn't seem to work correctly.
Also, is it possible to automatically stop the live source on IIS when I stop the encoder that is pushing to the publishing point. It seems that every time when I stop the encoder, I have to also stop the live source on IIS or else it would just wait forever
even if I don't have any failover encoders. The reason I'm asking is that if I want to stream exactly 1 hr of video, once I stop the encoder at 1 hr, IIS still assumes there is a live stream and the silverlight player remains in Live mode. And if I stop
the live source manually on IIS at the same time as I stop the encoder, it does not DVR the entire 1hr of video because it did not finish caching it all. It would be helpful to have an option that stops the live source for a publishing point when it detects
the encoder has stopped pushing the stream to it.
Trickplay for H.264 will be supported in a future release of the Smooth Streaming Player Development Kit. You will not need to update your server to turn it on (IIS Media Services 3.0 RTW will work just fine).
Live Smooth Streaming is designed to Stop Live Source automatically when the encoder notifies the server that the presentation has ended. However, if your encoder is configured to operate in a 24/7 mode, this notification will not get sent by design, and
you will need to stop the publishing point manually as you describe. Which live encoder are you using in your scenario? You can ping your encoder vendor about the configuration, or we can probably help point you in the right direction.

I'm currently using a Digital Rapids StreamZHD encoder for testing and it doesn't appear to be notifying the server the presentation has ended when I stop it. I will look into the manual and maybe followup with the vendor. Thanks.

Hi, Devon. To clarify, by SL Tools, do you mean the SL Tookit (http://www.codeplex.com/Silverlight), the Graphing Tools in the sample player from one of the articles on http://learn.iis.net/media, or something else?
