I need SQL express 2008 and was disappointed I had to use this broken installer to do it.  Thus my purchase of Visual Studio 2008 seems to have been for naught.

I would like to install it manually, but I can't find where to do that from. The download page just seems to give the option of installing with the Web Platform Installer. If you know of a place/way to just do a straight download and manual install, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

When I uninstalled my webcam software, I was able to go further in the install process and no longer had the endless reboot.  Now I have a crippled system with 8 instances, only two of which work.   What a mess!

It wasn't in the Add/Remove Programs or on my drive anywhere that I could find. Once I uninstalled my Logitech Webcam, I started the Web Platform Installer, and it installed SQL Server Express flawlessly!
