Log Files in IIS 6 with messed up date/time entries

    Hi

This is probablty the weirdest thing I have seen ever in IIS 6.0.

The log file is created with the correct date as the name, i.e. exyymmdd.log. The first couple of lines Have all the correct info including the correct date and time the file was created and logging started. The problem is that every entry in the entire log file has the following date and time 2009-09-18 17:15:01. This problem occurs in the log files for 2 seperate sites that are hosted on the same server. It also lokks like logging was stopped and started several times during the log period as the following occur more than once in the log file:

#Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0
    #Version: 1.0
    #Date:
    #Fields:

Does anybody have any idea why the dates could go screwy like this?

Logging stops and starts for various reasons.  The log entries always use GMT time stamps.  Can't explain why your entries are several months in the future, do you live in a warp bubble by any chance?

Is the time on the box wrong?

    Hi Steve,

No the time and date on the box is correct. Like I said in my original post, the log file name is the correct date as well as the date in the top of the log is correct. Only when the first visitor hits the site (when IIS wites the data sent by the browser to the log file) that the date is in the future.

That makes no sense, http.sys handles the logging functions.   Have you tried multiple clients and get the same results?  What about anti-virus software?  I'm not saying AV can cause it but I wouldn't rule out trying to turn off.

What do you mean "Have you tried Multiple Clients and get the same results?"?

I haven't had a look at http.sys yet, but the log files seem fine again. Like I said before, the problem started early in June and went on until the 9th of July. After that, thy seem fine.

What I meant by multiple clients.  Have you visited your site from two separate computers and seen the logs with the same behavior?  Maybe from the client you are visiting could be unique in someway contributing, I don't see how but.

Regarding http.sys, there is nothing to do there.
