How do you properly configure SMTP server for IIS 7

    Hello,

we just got a managed dedicated server running win2008.

Somewhere down the line, we disrupted or should i say removed the proper smtp configuration. And have been blacklisted 3 times now by http://cbl.abuseat.org/

Reason being is that the mailserver is being represented as an IP instead of smtp.ourdomain.com, see full description here http://cbl.abuseat.org/namingproblems.html

Any advice please, as i tried to configure it under server manager. But still seem to be doing something wrong

ANY ADVICE ON PROPERLY CONFIGURING WIN2008 SMTP SERVERS ???

    thanks

    Ehi

First, an IP address is fine.  It has to be in brackets to work, as in [192.168.1.100].  A FQDN is preferable, and having the proper DNS and SPF records helps.  The only other real advice is that you should relay for authenticated only and authenticate all requests.
