Authorization Rules - where is it?

Looking at this page http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772061(WS.10).aspx it says:

In Features View, double-click Authorization Rules.

But there is no Authorization Rules to click on! I am looking at my virtual directory.

Why does all this have to be so complicated???

    1. First step is to double-check that you have the feature enabled. Make sure you have these items checked in the Turn Windows Features On and Off dialog (first screen shot in the page you referenced).

  • "ASP.NET" under "Internet Information Services" – "World Wide Web Services" – "Application Development Features" (this is used for ASP.NET URL Authorization)
  • "URL Authorization" under "Internet Information Services" –" World Wide Web Services" – "Security"
  • (If you haven't seen it already, this is a nice reference on URL Authorization: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/142/understanding-iis-70-url-authorization/)

    2. If you enabled the feature recently, did you close and re-open inetmgr? This is necessary to view UIs for newly added features.
