  Here is the error code I got trying to install SQL 2008 Management studio. Reply Contact DownloadManager Information: 0 : Product Windows PowerShell done install completed DownloadManager Information: 0 : Increasing current install to 2 DownloadManager Information: 0 : Starting EXE install for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express'. Commandline is: 'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\installers\SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe /q /FEATURES=SSMS /ACTION=Install /hideconsole' DownloadManager Information: 0 : Waiting for process: 5076 - C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\installers\SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe DownloadManager Information: 0 : Install exit code for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express' is -2067922356 DownloadManager Error: 0 : Install return code for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express' is Failure DownloadManager Information: 0 : Product SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express done install completed   ******************** I have tried uninstalling powershell and that doesnt help.  I have like 10 entries for SQL stuff (2005, 2008, Compact edition, etc...)  so I dont want to try and uninstall that stuff.   PLEASE help, I have no clue how to manage or add databases without the management software.  Thanks! t

Reply Contact  Regarding the error code:  “Install exit code for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express' is -2067922356”.  If you take a look at the logs generated by SQL installer: ( should be at <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\) you will see that this retcode for SQL means the following issue as occurred: “ A previous release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 is installed on this computer. Upgrade Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to the SP1 before installing SQL Server 2008.”  The resolution: Upgrade VS 2008 to SP1 and then try to install SQL Server 2008  A couple of more customers have reported a similar issue (http://forums.iis.net/p/1158895/1908877.aspx#1908877), we will be fixing this issue soon!
