  Install return code for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express' is Failure Reply Contact After installing SQL Server 2008 Express i have tried to installed Management Studio Express and every time i get; DownloadManager Information: 0 : Starting EXE install for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express'. Commandline is: 'C:\Users\<myname>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\installers\SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe /q /FEATURES=SSMS /ACTION=Install /hideconsole' DownloadManager Information: 0 : Waiting for process: 2996 - C:\Users\<myname>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Web Platform Installer\installers\SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU.exe DownloadManager Information: 0 : Install exit code for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express' is -2067922356 DownloadManager Error: 0 : Install return code for product 'SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express' is Failure DownloadManager Information: 0 : Product SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Express done install completed Anyone got any suggestions. It seems similar to problems that others are having, but i can't find the same error code.

Upgrade Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to the SP1 before installing SQL Server 2008. Exception type: Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.RulesEngineExtension.RulesEngineRuleFailureException     Message:         A previous release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 is installed on this computer. Upgrade Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to the SP1 before installing SQL Server 2008. ========================================================================================================================== Here is the download link for the Visual Studio Sp1 service pack which resolved the SQL problem. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=FBEE1648-7106-44A7-9649-6D9F6D58056E&displaylang=en
