    Site Bindings Host Name

I recently set up a Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7 and it works under default conditions.

The trouble I'm having is that when I set my Site Bindings Host Name to my GoDaddy.com domain, and I try and browse it, the site asks: "Connect to www.mydomain.com" ("mydomain" replaced with my real domain name).

Does this have something to do with my GoDaddy.com account or IIS 7?

Talked with GoDaddy.com and my account is setup for local hosting.

So it has something to do with either my network where my server is at or my settings on IIS 7.

    Hi,

If you want to using friendly name to locate your website on a TCP/IP-based network, you must register the host headers with the appropriate name resolution system. If you website is only for local hosting, you can register the host header in the hosts file(%windir%/System32/drivers/etc). Then, you will be able test your website on local machine via host header name.

For more detailed information, you can refer to:

I don't know what you mean by "register the host headers." I have my domain name registered through GoDaddy, is that what you mean?

    Hi,

Yes, Godaddy register your host header with the Domain Name System (DNS). Since Godady.com told you the account is setup for local hosting , this means  not all of the client from the internet can reached the DNS. Hence, the friendly host header will not Resolve to your server’s IP address .

Actually, this issue is your network related. You need to contact with Godaddy to find out the effective region of your domain name.
