Thread: SQL Server Studio Management Express & Powershell fail

    SQL Server Studio Management Express & Powershell fail

    Hi, I have also had the continuous reboot issues and failed installs. After reading various posts I eventually got the platform installer to succesfully install all but SQL Server Studio Management Express. It is refusing to install because it is dependent on Powershell which the Platform says also failed, yet it is installed. My logs are as follows

    what version of operating system do you have? If you use Vista or less, you may want to look under Add/Remove Programs in Windows Updates and uninstall Powershell from there. SQL Express SSMS will install it as a prerequisite.

    We have the same issue of continuous reboots while installing SQL Server Express 2008. We are having a problem loading MSI 4.5 which we were told is a pre-requisite for the SQL Server Express 2008. 

    Here is a screenshot of the installation failure. We have installed Powershell 1.0 and .Net Framework 3.5 SP1.  It does not allow us to install the MSI 4.5 [error message = "updates do not apply to your system"]

    We are trying to load the SQL Server Express 2008 on Windows Server 2008 standard SP2.

    Please help us.  Thanks.

     i have same issue windows powershell and Sql server management studio fail to install.  I already successuflly install Sql server 2008 database engine but i need sql server 2008 management studio so every time i try to install managment studio it fail to install on my machine.  i have Windows XP professional.  Please any idea or help would be appreciated.  i also paste the error log for understanding..........Thankxxx
