    IIS hosting

    Hi,

    I have a 2 IIS Server.

There Host names with ipaddress are below :

    1. desktop1 : 172.16.17.52

    2. desktop2 : 172.16.17.53

Now i want that if desktop1 or viceversa is unavailable then it should be automatically rerouted to other server.

What entries should i do ? Should i do dns entries .. If yes then what entries ?

     or any other entry??

Or should i make a entry in IIS server ?

    Rathi,

You need to make use of load balancing ... hardware or software that is upto you...

NLB is used to share / distribute the load among multiple servers where as cluster (fail over) is used to maintain 100 % uptime. You can configure cluster among these servers so that failure of any service on server 1 would transfer traffic to server 2 and keep the sites up all the time. SAN network storage plays imp role on which you can centrally store the data and make it available for all servers connected in cluster.
