What is a definition of a connection? how long does it last? How can I figure out how many connections I require?

  Re: How to figure out how many active connections for specing a load balancer Reply Contact Connections can be tricky and measured using perfmon counters The HTTP 1.1 Specification, specifies that a “single-user client SHOULD NOT maintain more than 2 connections with any server or proxy Generally concurrent connections in the Web Service \ Concurrent Connections is a monitor to help.  Depends on if you server has HTTP KeepAlives, KeepAlives help with perform, but will increase the amount of connections.  http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/d7e13ea5-4350-497e-ba34-b25c0e9efd68.mspx?mfr=true Hope this helps.
