    Live Smooth Streaming feedback thread

The beta release of Live Smooth Streaming was announced yesterday at the MIX09 conference.  This functionality is based on Smooth Streaming, and enables adaptive streaming of live events to Silverlight clients.

What are your thoughts and questions about Live Smooth Streaming?  We'd love to hear them...

One comment, in case you missed it - you can try the new Live Smooth Streaming feature right now, and you don't need your own encoder or Silverlight client.  Use the Live Smooth Streaming Starter Kit to try out this new functionality!  Read more here:  http://blogs.iis.net/jboch/archive/2009/03/20/live-smooth-streaming-try-it-now-no-encoder-required.aspx.

Re: Live Smooth Streaming feedback thread

Hi Chris, While evaluating Live Smooth Streaming module for our needs we have found some inadequacy we would like to have insight to. We configured a sample publishing point per 'Getting started' guide and it works fine. But then we tried to configure a publishing point without 'Archive media' option, it turns off the 'Publish media fragments' option and the player receive 'Internal server error' in this case. Is it possible to have non-archived publishing point or archive it with some limitation by size/time? Thanks.

Re: Live Smooth Streaming feedback thread

    Hello Michelnok,

The Beta release of Live Smooth Streaming always requires archive being enabled in order to serve smooth streaming clients. More controls over archiving functionality will be available in future releases.

    Thanks,

    -Sam
