    Can't publish calendar to webdav

Hi all, have spent the last week trying to get this to work and am at the end of my technical knowledge on the matter. I hope someone here can help.

My wife and I have seperate logins and we both run Outlook 2007. I want us to be able to share an Outlook Calendar and want to do it on the local machine. Here's the steps I've gone through.

    1. Create a folder on C: called "Calendar"
    2. Shared the folder and made myself the Owner and the wife the Co-owner
    3. Mapped a network drive to by doing this:
    Map Network Drive
Connect to a Website that you can use to store your documents and pictures
    Choose a custom network location
Entered \\Localmachine\Calendar as the network address
    Called the shared drive "Calendar"
The folder is now shared and is also visible as a network location (\\Localmachine\Calendar)
    4. Started IIS. Right click on Sites and click Add web site.
    Site name: Calendar
    Physical path: \\Localmachine\Calendar
    Connect as: Application user
Type: http - All Unassigned - Port 80
    No host name
Test the settings and everything is fine.
    5. Right click Sites>Calendar and Add Virtual Directory
    Alias: Calendar
    Physical path: \\Localmachine\Calendar
    Connect as: Application user
    6. Checked the permissions for the site "Calendar". Turned sharing on.
    7. Go to the advanced settings of the DefaultAppPool
Change the identity to a Custom Account
Put my Vista login username and password in

If I go to the VIrtual Directory in IIS and click on Browse *.80 I can see the folder and anything I put in it from within my browser.

If I now go into Outlook and tell it to publish the calendar to: http://Localmachine/calendar I get:
"The upload of "Calendar" failed. There was a problem with the request."

I'm guessing I've missed out an important step somewhere along the line but for the life of me cannot figure out what I've done wrong. I've trawled the net trying to find an answer and turn to you guys as my last resort.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Anyone? I'm sure it's an IIS set up issue...

Has anyone found a solution to this. I have exactly the same problem. Same setup, same error message and unable to find a solution out there on the internet.

Ditto here too, would love some expert advice.  This doesn't seem too hard and since there is a lot of forum traffic on this exact topic, it seems like this is possible.

Link I have found to be most helpful so far:

    http://www.petri.co.il/share-calendars-local-users-internet-publishing.htm

The problem is that this site explains how to do it in Outlook 2007, but was meant for a Windows XP machine.  I am using Vista and did my best to parallel to the WebDav setup in Vista, but to no avail, I get the same error message.

Maybe we can figure this out ourselves.

But one final solution, albiet costly, is to use Gmail Apps Premier, which includes an app to basically mimic MS Exchange.  Costs $50/year.

    http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/messaging.html

Click on the "sync your Microsoft Outlook" URL for a video.  But if we can get it working for free using ISS and only publish locally, then that's the much better solution.

    Thanks.
