Have Vista Business. Want to install just what's necessary for IIS

I haven't yet installed IIS on my computer which has Vista Business. I just wanted to install what's necessary. I'm using www.discountasp.net to host my web site. I'll have some pages to describe my home based business and the software application that I've developed and I'll publish my application to my web site and want to be able to update the software through the web site.

The application I've developed is written in Microsoft Visual Basic 2008. It uses the .Net Framework. I'll be using Visual Web Developer most likely to build my web site which I have yet to do.

When I step through the instructions for installing IIS for Windows Help and Support and I select "To install IIS to serve dynamic content" and finally get to a window that has under Application Development Features :  .NET Extensibility

                                         ASP

                                         ASP.NET

                                         CGI

                                         ISAPI Extensions

                                         ISAPI Filters

                                         Server-Side Includes

I figure I should definitely select to install .NET Extensibility and ASP.NET. Is there anything else I should install.

Remember you can always add or remove features at a later time.  ASP.NET is required to run ASP.NET sites/applications/pages.  .NET Extensibilty is only required to extend the functionality of IIS, not run web apps.

Also, you don't need to even install IIS if you don't want to.  VWD has its own internal server you can test with before deploying to discountasp.net.

Thanks for that information Jeff. I'll hold off installing IIS for now and just build my web site using Visual Web Developer. Then I'll see if I can successfully publish my Visual Basic application to my web site and if I can I'll just skip installing IIS on my computer.
