    Software include in MWPI

Hi everybody, due to MWPI could be a good tool to start servers configuration for hosters, i have two questions:

    1. I would like to know if it is planning to include many other software such as:

    • .Net Framework 2.0
    • .Net Framework 3.0
    • ASP.NET AJAX Extension
    • SQL Server 2005
    • FastCGI
    • PHP framework
    • Perl framework
    • Third party web applications
    • etc...

    2. Will it be able to be extended for users?

There is a software pack wich do this and more over windows platform and IIS7 (http://www.codeplex.com/raktajino) .

    Thanks in advanced.

    Re: Software include in MWPI

We are always looking at new software to add to the product.  What do you, and others on the forum, think are the most critical pieces of software to add?  Since this is beta, this kind of feedback will help us determine where to focus.

Regarding extending for users, what do you mean?  We actually met up with the team that created Raktajino and they helped provide the inspiration for this project, what functionality from that project would you like to see in Web PI?

    Re: Software include in MWPI

Hi, You are doing a good job with this tool. I think it would be great that Web PI could cover both scenarios, developer and servers.

    For developers, it should include:

    • Tools
    • Frameworks
      • .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5
      • PHP 5.x
      • Perl (it would be great)
    • Web Server
      • All features of IIS and available packages in iis.net (only the most important packages)

    For fast server configuration:

    • Tools
      • SQL Server 2005 and 2008
      • MySQL 5.x
      • SQL Server Driver for PHP
      • Web application to manage MySQL Server (like phpmyadmin)
      • ASP.NET AJAX
    • Frameworks
      • .Net Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5
      • PHP 5.x
      • Perl (it would be great)
    • Web Server
      • All features of IIS and available packages in iis.net (only the most important packages)
    • Web applications (free cost and open source web application)
      • In this case we could take raktajino example, however, if we have uninstall option for those application much better :)

I feel this tool can help us no matter what scenario are working on. I´d like to help you more, so feel free to contact me.

    Thanks in advanced.
