    Html Error 500

Hi, im new here, but since iv planned to take the road of asp, i must socialize a bit

I had no problems with my asp sites a year a go on windows xp and dreamweaver mx. Now i got Vista Ultimate and DW CS3.

What i want to do is set up a testing server (i got iis 7) so i can see the asp site while im writting it.

So, i created a virtual directory, give it the alias ari, and at psysical path i give the path of the folder of my site. In DW i go: Site->New Site, then advanced, at Local Info i give the site a name and at Local Root folder i again give the path of the folder of my website, then at Testing Server-> Server Model:ASP Javascrypt, and at Access:Local/Network, at Testing server folder i give the path of my web page(again) and at URl prefix: http://localhost/ari

Site gets added and when i press f12 i get this html error 500 errorimage

Here is my index file incase.. index.asp

If there is a tutorial for this could a kind lad tell me where it is, i really searched alot, google and here and havent found something that solved this...

Thank you all in advance ASP ftw

Without using DW... create a simple ASP or an HTML page and place it in the VD(Virtual Directory) location and then browse from IE or firefox and see if you get the same error...

If you are doing these operation on the Default Web Site then your URL would most probably be http://localhost/[VD] /[Pagename]

    See if this works...

    Re: Html Error 500

With a simple html file in the VD it runs normally in the browser, in DW i get the error.

With a asp file, i only see the code itself in the browser.

When i open html or asp in firefox (without DW)  the url is the path of the files, not the http://localhost/[VD] /[Pagename]

Thank u a lot for respoding, i was seeing no replies while new posts got so many then my post got transfered....

I believe you are trying to double-click the HTML page ... what I am asking you to do is create a sample website in IIS 7 and then try to browse that page through your browser and not through DW or directly through the file...

did you try any DW forums ... I believe your problem is more related to DW than to IIS 7

1.) Have you done the default installation of IIS on your machine??? Default installation will not enable you to view ASP and ASP.Net pages...

You will have to install ASP as a separate component

2.) Follow this URL to turn off Show Http friendly error messages so that you see a detailed error report... Would be needing that error to find out more about your problem ....
