    setting up an IIS website - Server Application Unavailable

    hi guys, im sure many of you are familiar with setting up an IIS website right?
    i've been doing this a couple of times, in different machines but, this is the first time i've encountered this error:

    ================================================================================================================

    Server Application Unavailable

    The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable.  Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.

    Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.

    ================================================================================================================

    i've set up an IIS website on the machine, actually a DELL XPS M1210 laptop,
    just to confirm,
    it has an IIS installed,(of course)
    .NET Framework 2,3 are installed and
    SQL Server 2005 Express

    now on a SONY VAIO,laptop,i forgot the model no.
    it runs smoothly,knowing that it also has what the DELL has.

    and also i tried this on my desktop, having the SQL Server absent, that error shows.

    im thinking that there's something wrong with the DELL laptop for it can't show what the SONY VAIO can.

    and also, its weird that on my desktop, you can see the Login page,but the login is unsucessful always,

    it lets me think that there's something incomplete or something not configured.

    can you cite some good practices when making a default web site on an IIS?

    please help.im kinda confused.

     Do you have any ISAPI_filter enabled in your IIS.. it seems that IIS is not able to load that filter for some reason. Also do you get any errors/warning in event logs if you restart IIS.

    As the error message stated, please open event viewer and check application log to see if there is corresponding error event. If so, post the details here for us to take a look.
