Update and follow up question.
When setting up the server the first time around, I added it as a member server to my SBS2003 Domain. In reading many posts trying to figure this issue out, I read that configuring may be different for FTP and IIS in a Domain environment, Vs a workgroup.
Seeing that I really did not have anything on the server of importance, and no need to have it part of the domain, as it will be in a VLAN setup as a DMZ, I reinstalled the OS from scratch. I created the server in its own workgroup and did not install FTP6 after installing the Web Server Roll. Instead, I installed FTP7 directly after the basic server config.
When setting up my FTP site, I am still getting the same connection issues. I can access the website via theWAN just fine, but cannot maintain a local FTP connection.
If I launch Server Manager, and navigate to Roles, then scroll down to Role Services, should it show that FTP publishing service is installed? It currently does not even though I have installed FTP7.
