Different FTP Users on one IP using IIS7

We are attempting to migrate sites from an old IIS6 machine to our new Windows Server 2008.

However, we cannot setup more than one user (against one site) without the service not working.

eg. I would like to assign an ftp user (ftpuser1) to the site directory for D:website1/ and ftpuser2 to the site directory D:website2/ and so on. Most sites will be bound to the same main IP address.

We would like to do this so that we can also maintain the use of stanard username / passwords rather than 'websitedomain.com|user1' as user name).

It seems we have tried everything (permissions, deleting and starting again etc.).

Can anyone throw any light on the subject?

    Many thanks!

    two ways of doing it,

    1) user isolation similar to IIS 6

    2) virtual hosts using the FTP 7.0 module instead of the built-in FTP service. http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/320/using-ftp-virtual-host-names/
