  PedroAsani Joined on 09-06-2008, 4:32 PM Posts 4	Unable to set permissions Reply Contact I am running IIS 6 on x64 XP. If I right click and select "Permissions" nothing happens. What can I do? I am trying to get Virtual Server running.

  Re: Unable to set permissions Reply Contact Yes, full admin. When IIS installs, it asks for the "Service Pack 2 CD ROM", and then the "Windows XP x64 CD". I only have the x64 CD, but it uses that for the files it needs. IIS is installed, but right clicking on Default Web Site and selecting Permissions doesn't bring up any kind of dialog box. Without being able to set the permissions, I can't admin VS.  I'm thinking it might be that the point where it asks for the SP2 CD is the problem, if the files that it needs from there are different from the ones on the original CD. But that's me just guessing.

OK how about going to the physical folder for your default web site under windows explorer, right click and then selecting 'sharing and security' and then clicking the security tab. It should pop up the same exact dialog. If this still doesn't popup, then I would recommend install the latest SP for your OS and then try again. Thanks, Mukhtar Desai IIS Performance Team

  Re: Unable to set permissions Reply Contact I'm all full of latest patches, and still nothing. I tried doing the Web Sharing, but the problem is still there.  On the VS page, I get a 401.3, despite using the admin account to login. If anonymous access is used, I can see the page, but don't have permissions to use the VS admin, because I am not logged in. Is there any way I can get the latest IIS install files and try installing them instead of using the CD? I think the problem is from there. The CD is Pro x64 (I think pre-SP1) and I am running SP2, so I believe it has loaded the pre-SP1 files, and I read that there was a big security change in one of the service packs.

Is it possible for you to uninstall SP2, make sure IIS is installed and then reapply SP2 again, I know it is a stretch but I don't see any other way of getting the latest bits.
