IIS Host Headers and DNS not working

Hey all, I'm running IIS 6.0 with Windows DNS manager. There are two websites that need to work. One is working for sure. www.pennglassfender.com is working and hasn't quit. www.anchorcm.org is the one that needs to work. I'm only using one IP so i've setup host headers. www.pennglassfender.com and www.anchorcm.org. On the DNS side of it there was already a forward lookup zone for pennglassfender.com. So i made another zone for anchorcm.org. In the new zone i have these exact entries. www Alias(CNAME server.pennglassfender.com NS2 Host(A) 75.146.70.137 NS1 Host(A) 75.146.70.137 (Same as parent folder) State of Autority(SOA) [8],server.pennglassfender.com, hostmaster.pennglassfender.com (Same as parent folder) Name Server(NS) server.pennglassfender.com It seems like it resolves, so as soon as it resolves, i leave it alone and after about 20 minutes it quits and nothing works. Any idea? Thanks, Isaiah Edit: It seems to work once i VPN to the network from an external network. After i disconnect it'll work for about 20 minutes and quit.

What does www.dnsstuff.com DNS report say about the domains?

Most overused word in IT is 'should' as in 'That should work!?!'

right now i moved it over to one of Godaddy.com parked NS servers so the website will atleast work until this problem is figured out. I'm assuming, after seeing what dnsstuff.com showed with it being parked, it would have the ns1.pennglassfender.com and ns2.pennglassfender.com as showing the name servers. not real sure because i did move it temporarily.

If you have your host header information correct in IIS (and you have it bound to an IP address and not any available), then I would DNS is the issue.  DNS Stuff is a great tool to help test things.  Out of curiosity, did you get everything figured out?

No, i don't have it figured out yet. I still have it parked on Godaddy's DNS server. When the DNS gets setup on the server, do i need to make a new zone? And in the new zone i have an A record pointed to anchorcm.org to the IP address. Am i missing something?

I will take them off the parked servers and rehost the DNS on the server and see what the result is from DNSstuff.com.

    Thanks,

Whatever server is going to be authoritative needs a zone setup.  You can either use godaddy or configure your server to host the SOA record.  Remember DNS changes like this aren't instant and can take up to 24 hours or more to take effect.

Once DNS is setup, setup your host-headered site in IIS.  Then you should be all set.
