    IIS 7 401.X Error Page

I recently started using Windows 2008 Server and IIS 7. We have a web site that using integrated Windows authentication; however when a users incorrectly enters their credentials all they get is a white screen, not the corresponding error page. I have checked the settings in IIS under “Error Pages” and there is an entry for 401.1 and 401.2. Is their something else that needs to be configured?

What is the page you are requesting? Are you sure that custom errors module is in the list of modules which are supposed to run? Can you try enabling freb and see whats happening? Follow instructions here to enable freb.

    Thanks,

Re: IIS 7 401.X Error Page

On 2003 server using integrated windows authentication, when the gray box pops up if the users inputs the wrong credentials the server would kick out a 401.x error. you would then be redirected to a pages that is set in the "Error Pages" unders IIS. However, in 2008 servers their is an entry for the correct error code and pages under IIS but when this same action is performed you get a white screen. I have tested this behavior on other 2008 installs and it does the same thing.

What is your exact custom error configuration on IIS6 and IIS7, what exactly are you getting in IIS6 and IIS7 - you need to give some accurate descriptions if you want help.

Re: IIS 7 401.X Error Page

I have not changed the configuration everything is default on IIS 6 & IIS 7. However, like I have said on IIS 7 if you trigger a 401.1 or 401.2 error then you get a white screen and not what is setup for the "error pages" under IIS. In IIS 6 when your  trigger a 401.1 or 401.2 error you get the error page that is setup under "error pages". Why in IIS 7 am I just getting a white screen for 401.1 or 401.2 error? I have even tried changed the error pages to something else, but it still just gives me a white screen.

I cannot repro this with the default custom error configuration - you really need to tell us precisely what your configuration is and what is the exact http request/response (including headers and entity) you are seeing.
