  apriltioe Joined on 08-22-2008, 2:26 PM Posts 1	Using InstallShield to create Virtual Directory on IIS7 Vista Reply Contact Hi,  I'm trying to create a virtual directory in IIS 7 on a Vista machine using InstallShield 2008.  Has anyone done this before?  It works fine on a Windows XP machine, but not on a Vista machine.  Thanks.

The Metabase Compatibility component feature could be toggled from Internet Information Services in Turn Windows features on or off.   Re: Using InstallShield to create Virtual Directory on IIS7 Vista Reply Contact Have you had any success figuring this out?  I'm in the same boat: My InstallShield 2008 setup.exe fails to create the virtual directory in Vista with IIS 7.  It rollsback from the attempt, and ends with "The wizard was interrupted before [my app name] could be completely installed. ..."  I've enabled all the IIS 6 Metabase options available to no avail.  I've also tried running it with elevated privileges.  The setup.exe works flawlessly in XP.

  Re: Using InstallShield to create Virtual Directory on IIS7 Vista Reply Contact For those who may be interested, this issue has been resolved.  "apriltioe," who started this thread, replied:  "Sorry for the late reply as I'm unable to access external emails a work.  Yes, I've managed to solve the problem.  What you need to do is to add the following property in Property Manager - IISPREFERLEGACYOBJECTS = 1.  Let me know if it works for you." Install Shield 2009 Premier edition creates virtual directory properly in XP but not Vista - where can i find the log for failure? Or is it enough the replace of only DLL which you mention?   Re: Using InstallShield to create Virtual Directory on IIS7 Vista Reply Contact Hi Satish, The two articles my reply links to were sufficient to resolve the problem for me.  I'm sorry, but I can't be of much help on this one.  For one thing, I'm still working with InstallShield 2008 Express.  For another, I don't recall anything about the Property Manager, and I don't see any settings in my project similar to the "IISPREFERLEGACYOBJECTS = 1" referred to apriltioe. I can't remember off the top of my head how to create the failure log.  It involved a command line switch, perhaps "/f."  I learned how to do it reading the InstallShield forums.  I think the search terms I used were "failure log."
