    HELP! IIS7 website problem...

Sorry if I sound pretty thick, but I've only just stumbled on IIS7, and have only used other people's free ftp hosting before. Let me explain...

I am trying to set up an ASP website using IIS on my home pc. I've made the website, installed IIS7, created the website in IIS manager, and pointed it to the correct path on my hard drive. However, the only way to access it in a browser is by typing http://localhost/ or http://127.0.0.1/ (which I'm told are the same thing).

How can I make the website available to view on another pc? i've tried typing my ip address then :80 (which is where I set the binding to), and ipconfig only gives me my 192.168.1. address. Both of these just show me my router config. HELP!!!

Any help much appreciated. You can also mail me at iis[dot]7[at]james[dot]nicholls[dot]freeuk[dot]com. Thanks again in advance.

    Hi,

How is it possible that you get just your routers IP when you do ipconfig? If you get hold of your ip and your bindings are set to *:80 you can enter your system's ip to get to IIS site.

However this will only be applicable to machines within your network... to get this public you will need to register a domain name ...

    Hope that helps...

Thanks for the reply but i'm afraid it doesnt completely solve the problem...

OK, I have found off a friend that I need to set up port forwarding in my router config. I am a complete newbie to router configuration (as a web designer =/) so can someone guide me through how to set up Port Forwarding so that it will show my IIS website when I navigate to my ip:80?

By the way, I am using a speedtouch 585 router and i am trying to view my site on the same network. I know this sounds stupid, but I have set Web Browsing Interception to Disabled, so it *should* work.

     Many Thanks
