I am using Windows XP 2004 Media Center software.
As I understand, it is also based upon Windows XP Proffesional.
IIS was working just fine on my computer until I uninstalled a web site
that was using it. Now I cannot get my computer to see localhost. All
it say's is This page is not available when I seek localhost in the
address bar of I.E.
I completely uninstalled it from Windows Add/Remove in Control Panel
Rebooted computer and reinstalled it. I believe the default files are checked off. They are
common files, IIS.Snapin, SMTP service and WWW.service.
I ran IIS6 log but as a complete novice I cannot interrupt it at all. I am fairly new at computing and unfortunetly a lot of the technical dialog is way over my head.
I looked in C:\inetpub and I do see www.root folder.
I would very much appreciate any help I can get to be able to see IIS when I type localhost in my address bar of I.E. I need to install a Web server but cannot use it unless IIS is working properly. If you have any suggestions, please consider I am a novice and detailed instructions would be a great consideration for me to get this issue resolve
Any futher suggestions would really be appreciated
Thank you in advance for your assistance and consideration
