Installing IIS after service pack upgrades

After some over-zealous registry cleaning using a registry cleaning software (yeah, I know...), I had to reinstall XP Professional. I let a vendor do this who did not check with me on my desired configuration. The vendor did not install IIS off the setup CD which was SP1. The vendor then updated to SP3.

I am now trying to install IIS and get a prompt to insert my SP3 CD, which I don't have. Tried to point to the system directory containing the first filename it was looking for (floder dllcache I believe) but not all install files are there.

How can I install IIS given this situation?

    Thanks in advance,

     Bill

Download SP3 and point the installtion there when asked.

Re: Installing IIS after service pack upgrades

Evertime I try to find XP SP3, I get kicked back to the Microsoft Update center, which then checks my computer for updates and does not list SP3 as an option to DL (probably because it was already installed on my machine.)

I found the developer multiple-machine version of SP3, should I DL that version or is there a way to get the single-machine version from the Update Center without having to go through the checking my computer for updates process.

Re: Installing IIS after service pack upgrades

I downloaded SP3 and installed. Now, when I try to add the windows compenents to add IIS it runs further along the setup but then asks me the location for certain files it is trying to copy (now references the WIndows XP Prof CD instead of referencing the SP3 CP) -- I put my original XP reinstall CD in, the setup still can't find these files. Sample of the files it is looking for but can't find... infoctrs.h2, logtemp.sql, iis.msc, iisperf.pmc.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Bill

Re: Installing IIS after service pack upgrades

i have also same kind of problem but bit different in a sense that when i run service pack for network it gives problem at the end of installation.

    also it says

Setup cannot copy the file staxmem.dll

Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and
    inset
'Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD' in the drive you specify.
    Copy files from c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

buttons are Retry or Cancel on error screen

If I click on retry, I get the same dialog box. The file staxmem.dll is in
    the directory c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

    any urgent help...
