Website still able to access even stopped in IIS

    Hello all,

I have a Windows 2003 box hosting multiple websites using HTTP header. Just found a strange thing is if key in the external IP address of the server in IE, it will jump to one of my websites.

And then, stop the website in IIS, use IP to access the server in IE, the website I just stopped still can be accessed. Only way to avoid the website to be accessed is to rename the default page name to make it cannot be found.

    Anyone has any idea?

I wound why it would jump to that website, can I change it?

If you're using host headers, why would you access the server by IP?  What happens if you access that site by name?

Access by name is ok. If the website is stopped in IIS, then access by name not works, but still can be accessed by using IP, this is strange, can explain?.

I have more than 20 sites in the box, all are set to use host header, but how it would go to this site while using the IP? It should display nothing or some error msg, right?
