Hey all, i hope i dont sound like too much of a newbie but i cannot get help anywhere else. i installed IIS7 on vista and am having 2 problems. first one, i made a folder with a simple index.htm inside just to do some testing and i then placed the folder in the wwwfoot folder and it seemed like it was working fine so i decided that i wanted to make it to where when i typed in localhost in my browser that it would go straight to my sample index.htm page. so i took the sample index.htm out of the folder and placed it directly into the wwwroot folder and then deleted the empty sub folder that was in the wwwroot. well my first problem was that when i typed in localhost into my browser i would only get the IIS7 start page. so i then decided to delete everything from the wwwroot folder except my sample index.htm and then refreshed my browser and got the "page cannot be displayed" error. i then tried to restore all the files back and now nothing works. i dont know if i done something wrong by unchecking something or what while in the mists of all this but can someone tell me if i didnt do something that i was sapose to do or anything. im pretty sure i installed it right because it just seems pretty easy. (If i even installed it correctly).
My second problem is just pretty simple. since i dont have a static ip so i had to go grab a dynamic dns name and before i screwed everything up from the previous problem i couldnt get my dns name to work for me when i typed it in the browser. I have a linksys router and i know i have to forward port 80 i have no idea if there was something else i was missing like should i enable remote management and if so what port ? If anyone knows exactly whats going on or whats wrong, pleeeeeeeeese inform me. If not, please let me know of any easy to use gudes i can follow for these problems or just on the correct way to install.
