Can't get phpMyAdmin to install with Vista Home and IIS 7

I can't figure this out at all.

Trying to load phpMyAdmin on Windows Vista and I get the following
error

Jeff,

I am confused. I installed my phpMyAdmin in the directory that the install directions instructed me to. I also loaded it the same way on on my W2K machine and it worked fine. Is there a label I need to change in the php.ini?

The open_basedir directive in php.ini restricts where PHP has access to on your system. Personally I highly recommend enabling the open_basedir directive for any Internet facing server. Your options here are to move you PHPMyAdmin installation inside the directory specified by your open_basedir setting (c:\inetpub) or disable your open_basedir directive in php.ini.

First, this isn't an Internet facing server it is my desktop that I am using to build a site that I will upload to my ISP. I have the following in my php.ini

; open_basedir, if set, limits all file operations to the defined directory

; or per-virtualhost web server configuration file. This directive is
; *NOT* affected by whether Safe Mode is turned On or Off.

I also have phpmyadmin in the following directory

c:\inetpub\wwwroot\golfleague\phpmyadmin

phpMyAdmin gives me the login screen and I get the error when I try to login. I know the username and password are correct, I connect to MySQL using the command line.

Not a php guy and it just worked when I put on my old PC. Not sure what to do

That is my fault. It is not your content, it is your sessions directory that is outside your open_basedir directive. In you case I would just advise to disable open_basedir , which by the looks of your last post should be the case. I am assuming that snippet is from the php.ini file located in your C:\windows directory? Can you do a search through the file and make sure there are no other open_basedir values set?

There are no other open_base settings in my php.ini which is in c:\windows

Interesting. PHP should not be loading that directive as it is commented out, but for the sake of being thorough could you remove everything after the = sign and restart IIS? I doubt this but just to be sure, have you ever set any per directory values in the registry for open_basedir or used the ini_set() function to do likewise? Did you use an installer to confifure PHP?

That may be the issue. I had trouble getting PHP to load so I tried a few things and it finally worked. Maybe I messed something up in IIS. Would it be worth it to remove IIS and then reinstall it? I am only using my desktop to build a golf league web site. I have been editing the files and then FTP'ing them to my ISP. It would be easier if I colud do it on my desktop.

There is obviously some form of conflict that is causing your php.ini values to be overwritten. According to where php.ini is loaded from the PHPRC environment variable and registry will be checked first when using ISAPI. Can you verify if you have set the PHPRC environment variable? Also, can you open regedit, open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key, expand the SOFTWARE node and see if there are any keys for PHP?
