Page stops working when bindings are added

I am using Vista Ultimate, and am completely new to ISS. I followed this tutorial http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/372/serving-new-content/ to set up a website. It all works fine until it tells you to edit the bindings. I edit the one that is listed and use the host header tobyb121.com. However after doing this the website stops working. I cannot ping to the address and when I try ot browse to it I get an error saying "internet explorer cannot display the webpage" I use a wlan, connected to a linksys wag54gs, and have tried to do this with the ports forwarded and without. I also cannot access the site at all from other computers on the network(with or without the bindings), though I'm not sure if this is linked. Any help would be appreciated, tobyb.

    Hi tobyb121,

Actually this video offers you several options to serve content from IIS7. Creating a new website to serve content is another option in this video. To avoid confliction when you have multiple sites running simultaneously, you need to edit the binding.

This issue is because DNS record is not set correctly, DNS lookup is a requirement for clients vistiting sites with host headers.

Thanks for the help. As I said I am very new to this, so could you explain how I need to set up dns lookup, or point me somewhere where I could find some more information on it. Thanks tobyb
