    Server and desktop sections?

Would it be possible to somehow split the sections for desktop (XP, Vista) and server (2000,2003,2008) configurations here?I see a world of difference in troubleshooting server problems compared to desktop ones.Although this is obviously a great resource here I find myself wading through problems/answers that apply to desktop configurations rather than the server ones that I am after.

I must admit I am not sure how it could/would be done but personally I would be encouraged to contribute more if there was a dedicated server section.

Well, for IIS version it is still OS related.

    IIS 5 - W2k
    IIS 5.1 - Win XP
    IIS 6 - W2k3
    IIS 7 - W2k8/Vista

Steps for each version are similar even the OS is different. So I would go for IIS version breakdown.

I fully understand the version breakdown however there is a world of difference for people doing server work and desktop work not least the users ability.

By your description maybe we should recommend corp servers use vista or xp? ;P

Pushing all the home users in with server users personally I think confuses matters. I have been working with IIS for years but I have never installed a desktop version.

I wasn't expecting it to change just it would be nice if it did.

I guess this is preferences for diff users. I like the way it is. If you feel otherwise, I'm sure MS is reading this, and they will make the call.
