IIS7 & vista UserSpecific Credentials for access to remote SQL server

    Hello all,

I have been fighting with my computer over this for quite some time, so any help you can provide it greatly appreciated.

I am running Vista and IIS7 on my dev computer with a connection to SQL server 2005 on a remote server. I am part of a larger development network, and we all use the same username/password to access the SQL server.

However, when I access the application pools in IIS7 and enter the UserSpecific credentials under advanced settings, my computer responds with "The specified password is invalid." I have double checked this password numerous times, and I know for a fact it is correct.

When I view localhost on my computer it displays the error

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\USER'.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'domain\user'.

Re: IIS7 & vista UserSpecific Credentials for access to remote SQL server

According to the error, the machine account aka "Network Service" is trying to authenticate to the remote database, or that is how I read it.
Another possible problem is the credentials are wrong in the connectionStrings section.  I would verify your workstation is part of the domain and everything is
    working correctly.

    Hope that helps.
