Static files (images, htm, css, js) not rendering

I have IIS 7 installed on Vista Business.  Dynamic aspx content executes and renders just fine, but browsing static files such as images and even the default localhost\iisstart.htm (and within web applications that whose dynamic content renders!) just return an empty page without any errors displayed.  In my browser I have "Show friendly error messages" turned off.  My machine event logs viewed through the Event Viewer show nothing related to IIS.  Any ideas?

Ensure you have install the StaticFile module..... use turn on/off windows feature to install the component.

    Hello,

I have similar problem. I have reported it in this thread:

    http://forums.iis.net/t/1140305.aspx

Have you installed Visual Studio 2008 beta 2 recently? I started to have that error after the installation. I now have both vs 2005 and 2008 beta 2

    Best regards,

    Dariusz

Thanks Bernard, it worked!  I'm including a full path to the feature just to assist others:

Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features On or Off (link button on left hand side of panel on my machine) -> Internet Information Services -> World Wide Web Services -> Common Http Features -> Static Content (check this box)

    Regards,
    Josh
