I am a lillte shy to ask this very basic question.
A few days ago I install the WindowXP Pro and I installed the IIS by inserting the Window's CD.
My installed IIS is IIS 5.1. But most of the people seem to have
IIS 6.
Can anyone tell me how to upgrade from IIS 5.1 to IIS 6?
I read some instruction to install IIS 6. it says I have to use my window CD to install.
But I can only install IIS 5.1 from my CD.
I thought I can download from IIS.net. I can find IIS 6 manager to download but I cannot find
IIS 6 itself to download.

You can upgrade it by following this steps: If you have the SP3 file and its name is windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe, then create a folder in the root of C: and name it sp3, then execute the following command: windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu.exe -x:c:\sp3
When finished extracting, there should exist c:\sp3\i386 containing the extracted files. Now you should be able to use Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components to add IIS and point it to that i386 folder. (If you have another i386 folder in the root of C:,

Upgrade to IIS 6 from IIS 5.1

I think, Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition has IIS 6.0, rest all editions of XP are shipped with IIS 5.1

You might consider Upgrade using the Web Platform and IIS Express
